THE MORPH - DIGITAL STORYTELLING
The ECHO project is an iterative artwork which grows, collecting a diverse range of human stories as it travels internationally. Here are 2 examples of the narratives that exist in the archive and how the transition occurs between the user and the storyteller.
This is an example of one of the personal confessional style stories that exist within the project ECHO
A STORY ABOUT STRENGTH THROUGH ADVERSITY
ECHO- The Narrative
(example of a story recorded for project Echo)
The research project explores empathy through narrative, portrait and shared identity.
Echo experiments with these ideas by creating a virtual mirror that enables the storyteller and
viewer to merge as one. Situated inside a booth installation the participant is delivered another’s
deeply personal story. As the on-screen narrator speaks a subtle slippage between you (the
viewer) and the other occurs; the viewer’s face begins to imprint onto the narrator's face, merging
your face and identity, with someone else’s.
